Importance to extracurricular activities

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I have given equal importance to extracurricular activities such as elocution, quizzes and other competitions. I won the Third place in Chess competition held in my college. I was the coordinator for the Paper Presentation event in my college state level technical symposium Pinnacle ‘08’. I was also the class representative for 3 semesters, which rendered in me the management skills along with the satisfaction of leading the class successfully during my tenure.

Several factors have influenced my decision to pursue graduate studies at your University. I am confident that the facilities, guidance and inspiration your University provides combined with the excellent faculty and research opportunities makes it an ideal place for me to embark upon my postgraduate studies. I am confident that in return for this I can make a perennial contribution to this field and to your institution.

Computer science and its applications

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I believe that learning is an unceasing activity in one’s life. In this technological age everything is changing rapidly. We need to constantly streamline and upgrade our knowledge and resources in order to say ahead in the race. Learning is an endless journey, which helps us discover new horizons and ultimately the zenith.

Computer Science and its applications were an unanswered conundrum for me. As I grew older the questions were answered but at the same time many newer questions with a greater magnitude of complexity started haunting me. My search for answers aroused a passion towards Computer Science and I started exploring its developments and applications, but that alone did not quench my thirst for knowledge. I then understood that only a graduate education could offer me the challenge of intellect and personal satisfaction.

My school life

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Those were the still fresh childhood days in my life. My friends and I use to have so much of fun in the class. My school was the most adoring place I have ever seen. The teachers were sweet to us. However, they occasionally got angry for our mischievous nature. They supported us in every activity.

Since I was a basketball player, I use to miss my classes. At those times, my teachers were so resistible to help me out in the lessons I missed. I took part in all inter school competitions; this gave a so much of pleasure. Despite studies, I learnt lots from the school. One best thing I liked is my art class. I learnt new things like vegetable carving and fabric painting. This talent yielded me many prizes. Thanks to my art teacher. It was so much fun in my school. Now I am missing all that. One day or the other old things have to disappear and new things will arrive. Now I have started enjoying my college life.

Tradition of immigration

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

In 2007 nearly 1,500 Indian citizens were granted work permit in Sweden. In the years to come, we would like to welcome more labour immigrants. Immigration is of vital importance for Sweden’s ability to meet both present and future challenges in the labour market. At the same time, it contributes to a more culturally diverse and open society.

Sweden has a tradition of labour immigration. In the decades following the Second World War, immigration made a major contribution to our prosperity. Sweden was still a labour immigration country at the beginning of the 1970s, but the general perception of immigration changed subsequently as the flows to Sweden came to be dominated by asylum seekers. Apart from asylum seekers and their relatives, the number of people who have been given the opportunity to come to Sweden to create a better future for themselves has been relatively small.

New immigration regulations

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Sweden has now decided to re-open the path for those wishing to come to work. In stark contrast to immigration regulations in many other countries, Swedish policy is not based on quotas or aimed exclusively at highly qualified labour. Instead one of the main features of the reform is that it focuses on the employers’ demand for labour, high as well as low skilled workers. In doing so, Sweden is setting an example which hopefully others in Europe will follow.

Even today, in times of financial instability, there are labour shortages in several occupations and sectors of the Swedish labour market. In addition, our population is getting older and many will soon be leaving working life. This demographic trend presents a challenge for future growth and the sustainability of our welfare system. Labour immigration is one of several instruments in efforts to prevent labour shortages and to maintain the supply of labour in the short and long-term. Increased labour immigration constitutes a complement to measures which aim to utilize the labour already in the country.
